From the collection Dr. David P. Chandler on the site http://papaintellivision.com/
The documents herein regard the Mattel Electronics Intellivision project ranging from its inception in 1977 until the end of Chandler's involvement with the company in 1983.
This document dated from August 4, 1982 is an explanation of the Federal Trade Comission investigation into Mattel by J Wallace Adair of the FTC. The investigation was spurred due to Mattel’s consistent advertisement of the Intellivision Keyboard Component from all the way back in 1979, promising the consumer the capability to turn the Intellivision into a fully fledged home computer. Mr. Adair lays out several specific complaints and questions, some replied to with handwritten notes by Dr. David Chandler. The FTC had already obtained a good deal of inside knowledge about the development of the Keyboard Component as evidenced by facts and figures located in the query section. A meeting was arranged for August 17 and 18, 1982 in order to sort out the remaining issues in the case.
